This Week: The Six-Day War (June 5-10, 1967)

Long-time VOA correspondent Alan L. Heil, Jr.

In an article for the series "This Week in International Broadcasting History," Mike Richman writes about the coverage by VOA correspondent Alan L. Heil, Jr., on the 1967 Six-Day War, a resounding Israeli victory that would dramatically shift the grip on power in the Middle East for decades to come.  Based in Cairo during the war, Heil covered developments in Egypt and filed reports from VOA's office at the U.S. Embassy.  At the time, he was a few years into his VOA career.  He held the positions of foreign correspondent, chief of news and current affairs, and deputy director before retiring in 1998 after a distinguished 36-year career.
