Dec. 30, 2012: Redskins-Cowboys Clash for NFC East title

For the 2012 finale of "Burgundy & Gold Magazine," host Mike Richman went to FedExField to capture the magnitude of the season-ending showdown between the 9-6 Redskins and their bitter rivals, the 8-7 Cowboys. The stakes were astronomical: the winner claims the NFC East title and the loser goes home. Amid an electric pre-game atmosphere, Mike interviewed fanatical fans and notable Redskins names: former QB Joe Theismann, long-time trainer Bubba Tyer and Art Briles, who coached rookie sensation Robert Griffin III at Baylor. Following Washington's 28-18 win, Mike caught up with Redskins including RG3, LB Ryan Kerrigan, DT Stephen Bowen, TE Chris Cooley and guard Will Montgomery. They shared their elation on the Redskins winning their seventh straight game and capturing the NFC East for the first time since 1999. Mike also did a post-game interview with former Redskins RB Clinton Portis, whose Redskins single-season rushing record was shattered that day by rookie Alfred Morris.

2012: A Season of Monumental Redskins Anniversaries

For the Redskins, 2012 marked a season of monumental anniversaries: 40 years since they played in their first Super Bowl, 30 since they won their first one, 25 since they took home their second Vince Lombardi trophy, five years since the tragic death of superstar safety Sean Taylor, and 50 years since the formation of the Redskins' cheerleaders. In this episode of "Burgundy & Gold Magazine," Redskins Historian Mike Richman looks back on those seasons and moments. He interviews Redskin players who teamed Taylor as well as fans who watched the phenom in awe. Also featured are Craig McEwen, a member of the 1987 Redskins replacement team; George Allen, son of Redskins Hall of Fame coach George Allen; and the "Redskinettes," the moniker for the Redskins' cheerleaders alumni. Dec. 26, 2011: Sonny trade/Body Bag game/NFC East title

In his final appearance on "Redskins Nation" during the 2011 season, Mike Richman talks about the trade that brought Hall of Fame QB Sonny Jurgensen to D.C. in 1964. Jurgensen played his first seven seasons in Philly, but new Eagles coach Joe Kuharich dealt him to the Redskins as part of a personnel housecleaning. Mike explains that Jurgy gained revenge with a spectacular performance in a 35-20 win over the Eagles in 1964. Mike also spoke about the Redskins' infamous "Body Bag Game" against Philadelphia in 1990 and their NFC East-clinching win over the 49ers on Dec. 26, 1999, exactly 12 years before the taping of the show. His conversation with host Larry Michael, the "Voice of the Redskins," came in the context of the season-ending game against the Eagles in Philly. Check it out!

John Hall: Back on the Job

John Hall has been back booting kicks through the uprights, a strong sign that the Redskins have solidified their place-kicking position for the season.

After suffering a quad injury in the season's first game, Hall missed the next five games while rookie Nick Novak handled the kicking chores. But Hall returned on Oct. 30 against the Giants and showed he hadn't missed a step, making his next six field goal attempts until missing a 52-yarder at the end of regulation in the Redskins' 23-17 overtime loss to the Chargers on Nov. 27 at FedExField.
